of green cotton buds and ants in the vast blue sky

we were properly chastised (yeah, right) when brother suddenly asked why we had not made any remarks (i.e. show of gratitude) about the CNY goodies his girlfriend had bought for us. i promptly informed him that i had shown my gratitude by eating more than my share of them - i'd originally thought that father had bought them and in my book, eating them shows my appreciation plenty. :)

mum went one up. we were watching The Guardian and Jake Fischer had just apologised to Ben Randall about saying that he was too old and useless to be on the Coast Guards, which is why he'd gone to the training school (partly true), and was asking Ben if he'd anything to say to him the minute after he'd delivered his apology.

so my mum isn't too quick on the uptake and asked what Jake might be expecting him to say. I explained that Jake was hinting at Ben to apologise for whatever rude things he might've said to him earlier on.

at that moment, mum laughed and said that brother was acting just like Jake.
